GUITARS

My main axe is a Paul Reed Smith CE22.  I call it Elektra - it was love at first sight and I’ve been playing it since 1998.  Since then, it has become so much more than a guitar - it's an extension of me as a player and has helped me define myself musically.  I also play a PRS Starla.  It has a real vintage feel and sound that rocks!  I love the Bigsby, mahogany body and set neck.  PRS guitars are incredibly versatile instruments of superior quality.  They are beautiful works of art.

STRINGS

I play D’Addario EXL 115 Blues/Jazz Rock 11-49 guage strings.  I use D’Addario strings because they sound awesome.  The 11-49's are my favourite.  I find this guage is the perfect balance of a heavier string for extra fat tone that is still really comfortable to play.  As a teenager, I experimented with various guages and brands of strings.  I found D’Addario to be the most reliable and consistent.  I put 13‘s on an old guitar and played it to strengthen my fingers and improve my technique and speed.  When I switched back to the standard .09 guage, I missed the fatter tone and the feel of digging into a heavier string.  I decided on the EXL 115’s and have been using them ever since.

CABLES

I use Planet Waves cables and accessories because the quality is excellent and I like the thoughtful attention to detail in the design of their products (like cables that come with a tie!).  Check out the new Mini NS Headstock Tuner.

PICKS

My favourite guitar picks are made by Steve Clayton.  I always use delrin, small teardrop shaped, heavy guage (1.14mm) picks.  Check out the website to create your own custom printed pick!

AMPS

I am the proud owner of a DH15H DarkHorse 15w/2w all tube guitar head and DHX12 DarkHorse 25w 1x12” extension cabinet.  This amp is great!  It looks rad, it’s lightweight, and I love the variety of tones it offers.  I take it with me to rehearsals, recording sessions and gigs to achieve consistently great tone.  I regularly use a Bass Master from 1972, as well.  It has a beautiful warm vintage tone.
